Call it nepotism or call it a casting choice of convenience, Angelina Jolie has hired her young daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt for a role in the Disney film "Maleficent" -- and is paying her handsomely.
Jolie not only stars in the film, but also serves as producer -- presumably getting final say on the decision to cast 4-year-old Vivienne, also the daughter of Brad Pitt. Viv plays young Princess Aurora in the film, which is an expansion on the story of Sleeping Beauty.
For her part, Vivienne makes $3,000 per week and receives a $60 per diem, according to a minor's contract filed with the court that was obtained by TMZ. Viv's pay is over four times that of the median usual weekly earnings of full-time (adult) wage and salary workers. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, at the end of 2012, that number was $772 a week.
The older Aurora is played by Elle Fanning. But this is not a direct remake of the classic Disney cartoon that we're used to: The live-action film instead focuses on the life of the princess' nemesis, played by Jolie, and why she was led to cast an evil spell.
Incidentally, Jolie's younger counterpart is played by India Eisley -- who looks almost exactly like Jolie when she was younger.
The film, which was shot at England's famous Pinewood Studios, is due in theaters July, 2014.
