More than a year ago, Shane Bauer, Josh Fattal and Sarah Shourd were arrested while hiking in Iraqi Kurdistan, along the Iraq/Iran border. Sarah was released Tuesday, but Shane and Josh remain behind bars in Tehran's Evin Prison, where they have been locked up for more than 400 days.
Demand that Iran's leaders release Shane and Josh immediately!
Iranian officials have alleged that they planned to carry out espionage. President Ahmadinejad alluded that they are being detained as bargaining chips to pressure the United States into making diplomatic concessions.
Enough is enough.Holding hostages is a human rights violation, and just plain wrong.Shane and Josh have been denied access to families & lawyers. Even Swiss Embassy officials, who represent the U.S. in Iran, have not been allowed to visit since April.According to Iranian and International law, protracted imprisonment without due process is illegal. No charges have been leveled. Iran, stop breaking your own laws!
