The bad news for Horsham comes as residents of Echuca begin to assess the damage after the Campaspe River's peak at about 11pm (AEDT) last night, which affected 170 properties and forced the evacuation of 170 people.
"This could be a one-in-200-year flood event. That's the worst case scenario but it could happen," State Emergency Service (SES) spokeswoman Natasha Duckett said.
"The Wimmera River is higher than the levels seen in September 2010 and it's still rising. They have had 130mm in the river over a three-day period.
