Giant hailstorm strikes Melbourne, casuing flooding and chaos | Herald Sun
HAIL the size of tennis balls struck Melbourne today as a huge storm wreaked havoc across the city.
The freak autumn storm struck about 2pm. The weather bureau reported tennis-ball sized hail at Ferntree Gully.
Roads were blanketed in ice so thick it looked like snow.
Cars were forced to a halt in the city centre, with some abandoned.
