Trafficked women at South Melbourne brothel?

Illegal migrants held in brothel raids - National - theage.com.au
Fourteen women have been taken into custody and will be interviewed in relation to possible sexual slavery offences after raids on four South Melbourne brothels on Monday.

The simultaneous raids by officers from the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs occurred at 10pm.

Thirteen Thai women and one Indonesian woman were taken to the Maribyrnong Detention Centre. Three of the women are alleged to have been in the country illegally, while the rest had their visas cancelled.

Some of the women worked at Top on Tope, a South Melbourne brothel that employs mostly Asian women. Other foreign nationals were allowed to return to work because they had appropriate visas. The Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs says it will pass any evidence of people trafficking or sex slavery to federal police, which helped in the raids.
